  • Bathroom: These rooms feature a stunning private bathroom on the same floor. It has a large sunny window and a clawfoot tub.

  • Kitchen: Guests have access to the downstairs kitchen.

A place to spark creativity! This room is on the lower level of the guest house with easy access to the shared spaces.

  • Bed: 1 queen bed*, 1st floor

  • Bathroom: The bathroom is on the 1st floor and shared with other guests.

  • Kitchen: Guests have access to the kitchen on the same floor.

RATES & RESERVATIONS

The rooms are $100 - 150 per night for single occupancy and $25 for each additional guest.* There is an additional 14% hotel tax and $125 cleaning fee.

The house is $2,500 per night and includes hotel tax, cleaning and maintenance fees. Cost per floor is $1,500 per night.

Garden rental is $100 per hour or $600 day rate. Rental of PA system is $250 per event.

  • There may be discounts available on weekly and monthly reservations.

  • Monthly rates are available. Maximum stay is 3 months.

  • There are no refunds on cancellations or early checkouts.

  • Reservations require a $50 non-refundable deposit to hold the reservation. Deposit is payable through Zelle or by credit card. The balance is due upon arrival.

  • For arrivals after 9 pm, there is a late check-in fee of $75.00.

    Soak up the sun or chill in the shade. This urban oasis has veggies, fruit, herbs, and flowers are grown year-round. This is a great space to relax, have a meal, or even get some work done with our reliable Wifi.

    We have a fridge and all cooking equipment to ensure you feel at home. For all your grocery needs, we’re a 5-minute walk away from Mandela Grocery Cooperative, a Black-owned grocery store. We also have a washer & dryer on-site for guests to do their laundry.

    Enjoy the latest photography collection in our indoor and outdoor gallery space. Our current exhibition is Oakland Picture Lady: Tales of a 90's Girl, a collection of original photographs, collages, and short stories from Traci’s days as a Hip Hop photojournalist from 1992 - 1999.

As a performance and visual artist, activist, and cultural archivist, our owner, Traci Barlow brings an authentic cultural experience to the guest house. It doesn’t get more Oakland than this.

    Guest can enjoy free and unlimited Wifi during their stay the B-Love Guesthouse. We are proud to offer our guest premium high speeds to help them work or play while they visit. The guesthouse wifi extends into our garden and amenities so guest can be connected anywhere they are

Check-In & Check-Out

  • Check-in is between 2 pm and 9 pm daily and must be scheduled in advance. A minimum of 24 hours’ notice and a $50 convenience fee are required for late check-ins. We reserve the right to deny check-ins after 9 pm.

  • Check-out is at 12 noon PT. Leave the key in the door of your room when checking out. Do not lock your room door.

  • B-Love's Guest House does not have a 24-hour desk.

  • Luggage may be dropped off between 8 am and 6 pm with advanced notice and checked with us until 9 pm on the day of check-out, holding fees may apply.

  • Advance notice is required for customers bringing more than two large suitcases each, or customers wishing to receive special deliveries.

Cancellation Policy
More than 3 days prior to arrival No fees. Less than 3 days prior to arrival 50% cost of stay. Cancellation during booking, there are no refunds on cancellations or early check outs.

Occupancy and Visitors

  • Guests are required to provide valid government picture identification upon arrival for their reservation.
  • Maximum occupancy is 2 guests per guest room unless an exception has been agreed upon in advance. If the maximum occupancy is exceeded, at the Proprietor's discretion additional fees may apply or all guests involved may have their reservations revoked without deposit refund according to our published cancellation policy below.
  • No additional guest may visit the space without prior consent by management.

Children and Pets

  • Children are welcome with advance permission. Guests arriving with unannounced children regardless of age or size may have their reservations revoked without deposit refund according to our cancellation policy.
  • Children ages 12 and above are considered a second guest. Guest fees will apply.
  • We have a no-pet policy.

Owner's Rights

  • Owner reserves the right to refuse service to any guest at any time at the owner's discretion.
  • Owner reserves the right to refuse service to guests who do not comply with the house rules and policy.Owner reserves the right to alter or change house rules without notice.
  • Owner reserves the right in case of emergency, to request room change without prior notice.

Lost Property Policy
B-Love's Guest House is not responsible for personal property lost or left behind.

General House Rules

  • Respect and abide by our sanitation protocols as listed here. Water is precious and expensive - please use as little as possible. Please do not waste it. Please limit shower time to 10 minutes.
  • Please conserve gas and electricity. Turn off lights when you leave the room. Do not leave lights on all night. Turn off if you are not using them.
  • Clean up after yourself. Keep personal belongings in your room.
  • Do not move any furniture in your room or the common areas of the guest house. If you have an issue with something please let your host know right away.
  • No smoking inside. Smoking is allowed outside in the backyard. Always smoke at least 25 feet away from the door.
  • Respect others’ privacy and personal belongings.
  • Do not store personal belongings in common areas
  • The garage is not for guest use. Please do not enter the garage.
  • Don’t be too loud. Loud conversations and music are ok sometimes, don’t overdo it.
  • Street sweeping is on Thursdays from 12:00-3:30 pm on the opposite side of the street and on Fridays from 12:00-3:30 on our side of the street. Do not park there during those times or your car will get a $66 parking citation.
  • Mail Delivered to you should be addressed to, “[Your Name] c/o B-love's Guest House”. Do not use the B-Love's Guest House address as your permanent place of residence.
  • Close the front door tightly. Make sure it is completely shut.
  • The housekeeper comes in generally on Sunday and Thursday from 12:00-3:00 pm. Please make space for a full cleaning to be done at this time.
  • If you notice something broken or not working well please let management know right away.
  • Call (510) 686-3351 if there is an emergency.
  • Please always ask if you are unsure of house guest rules. All questions, comments, and suggestions are welcomed and encouraged. Thank you.

Breakfast Area, Common Areas, and Event Spaces

  • Keep common areas neat and clean. (Common areas include the kitchen, bathroom, living area, and backyard).
  • The kitchen is available to guests at all times. Please be mindful of the 'quiet hour' if using the kitchen after 11 pm.
  • Guests have full access to the kitchen on the 1st floor.
  • There is no kitchen access on the 2nd floor.
  • Respectfully share common areas. Ask permission to use anything that doesn’t belong to you.
  • If you use the refrigerator please do not leave any food in there after you check out.
  • Garbage cans are in the backyard to the left of the back door. Please empty the trash if it gets full. Trash bags are under the sink.
  • Garbage pick-up is on Friday mornings. For monthly guests, please help with taking the trash out when it gets full. If you have lots of garbage please put it in the garbage bins by Thursday night. Trash goes in the following bins:
    • Burgundy bin is for trash
    • Gray bin is for recycling: cans, glass, plastic, and newspaper
    • Green bin is for grass, plants, and tree clippings

Garden Space

  • Our Garden is open to guests at all times unless there is a private event.
  • The Garden may be reserved for private use between 11 am and 9 pm at a rate of $50 per hour (all clean-up must be completed prior to 10 pm).
  • When using the backyard, be sure to lock the back door when you come inside.

+ How do I book a room?

Simply click the BOOK NOW button on any of our pages and and put in the dates you are interested in. Select a room, leave a deposit and you will receive a confirmation of your payment and request. The balance is due upon arrival.


+ Where are you located?

We are centrally located in West Oakland, California. Please use the map on the first page to get more info on our location. A landmark to use is the West Oakland Bart station. We are 4 blocks from there.


+ Is there parking?

Yes, but it’s limited to street parking. We are located in a residential neighborhood.


+ Can I smoke?

There is no smoking indoors, but please feel free to smoke outdoors in the backyard. We are cannabis-friendly.


+ Do you have a cooking facility?

There is a fully stocked kitchen that includes cookware, dishes, and utensils. Guests are required to clean the kitchen after each use.


+ Is the guest house clean?

Guests are expected to clean up behind themselves mainly in the kitchen. There is a weekly professional house cleaning service that cleans the common areas compliant with COVID-19 safety protocols. Please see updated health and safety policies here.


+ Is it safe and secure?

Each guest has a key to their private room. The area is an urban residential neighborhood. Guests should use travelers' street smarts as they would when traveling anywhere in the world.
